WASHINGTON (WLFI) – Indiana’s Republican U.S. Sen. Dan Coats was honored Thursday with a special award for helping our nation’s seniors.

Coats received the Guardian of Seniors’ Rights award from the 60 Plus Association, a nonpartisan seniors advocacy group promoting free enterprise, limited government and lower taxes. The award honors Congress members who commit to helping elderly citizens through tax reform and other issues.

“I am honored to receive this award,” Coats expressed in a news release. “With 59.3 million Americans over the age of 60 and millions more reaching that milestone each year, promoting smart reforms to the tax code is of the utmost importance.”
